I know, right. What would google know about hair trends! A lot more than you think actually. Think about it, the last time you where looking for inspiration how did you find it? If I had to guess I would say like us you grabbed out your smart phone or device and typed what ever it was you where looking for into Dr Google and finally the doctor has spoken and given us the verdict on what is being searched for from January to August in 2015.

dogbraid#1 Trending search “Braids”
Well it comes as no surprise that the number one top trending search in the hair category is braiding and why wouldn’t it be? It’s such a quick and easy way to put your hair up for work and it’ can be carried through to the gym, holidays and even jazzed up for a night out. We were recently on holidays on a trip to Borneo and Letitia who was with me got asked but nearly every girl in our tour group if she could braid their hair. If you are still struggling with the Braid keep an eye out for our how to braid video to be released soon.

teal purple ombre#2 Trending search “Crazy hair colours”
It’s almost as if we have entered the world Anime at the moment with some of the amazing bright colours that people are looking for at the moment. From the outright crazy like the lady who coloured her hair to resemble a strawberry through to the Amazing like Letitia’s “My Little pony hair” that she did recently. We have had some amazing results with this type of work since introducing our coloured bleach earlier this year which requires little preparation and most importantly is fade resistant.

hash tag#3 Trending search “The man bun”
You wouldn’t believe int but the #3 top trending search for 2015 is one for the boys. It would seem by the report there was a huge uptick in men searching “How to grow a man bun”, it even has an attached hash tag #Manbunmondays. I guess we can thank Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles for that one.

men hair brush#4 Trending search “the comb over”
It’s ok, never fear we are not talking about the Donald Trump or Bert Newton type here. Think the more Don Draper-esque, dapper gent 20’s style. Since Underbelly razor these type of hairstyles and in particular the really defined razor line at the base. Our Mens cut and style package is great for people contemplating these new styles and includes a full consultation to ensure the style you choose is going to work for you and your life style.

Katy Perry’s Gone Ombre’

13 October;  Author: admin

gallery-1441907927-hbz-hair-transformation-katy-perryblack ombre warmerAlthough she was a little behind the trend Katy Perry finally decided to take the plunge earlier in the year and Ombre’ her trade mark raven black hair. As you would expect the results where stunning as you can see in the before and afters we found here. This is a great example of how to do Ombre’ right! Instead of the typical black to lighter blonde that most people go for Katy and her stylist opted for a warm caramel. For darker skin tones and natural hair colour these warmer transitions usually look a lot more natural and in the “right place” than the popular light blondes. When making your choice of ombre’ colour ensure you and your stylist take this into account.

To the left you will see an example of adopting a warmer tone that Letitia did in our Taigum hairdressers. Ombre’ hair colouring in salon can start from anywhere as low as $180, so why not come into the salon today for an obligation free consultation and quote.

Wrong colour? Fix it at home for free!

12 November;  Author: admin

Bad colour!Lets be honest! Everyone has at some stage tried to do their colour at home to save time in the salon or money more commonly. Although sometimes it can be a harmless thing giving good results a lot of the time the different reflects in the hairĀ  or colour banding can spell disaster to your new colour (like mixing different paints on a pallette). Anyway more to the point, have you ever wondered how to reverse the colour? basically waving a magic wand and making it go away. It can be done easily in our Toombul or Taigum hair salons with a little box of magic that we keep in stock just for the job. If you don’t have the funds to come in and see us, here is an old housewives trick to help remove the colour in some cases;

AT HOME COLOUR REMOVER

What you need:
  • 4 teaspoons of Bicarbonate soda
  • 4 teaspoons of shampoo
  • 2 teaspoons of water
  • Protective gloves
Method:
  1. Put on gloves and mix all of the above in a bowl.
  2. Apply with a tint (or pastry) brush all over coloured hair
  3. Work the product thoroughly through the hair and comb with a wide toothed comb
  4. Place shower cap over head and leave for 20 – 30 minutes
  5. If build up is still excessive re-apply and apply light heat (i.e. blow-dryer)
  6. Wash product off with warm water and shampoo and use a hydrating treatment

Please note there are no assertions that this will work 100% but Bi carbonate soda is a “stripping product” that will remove depositing colours. If you find that you still can’t get the result you are after please call our hair salons at Toombul, Taigum or Strathpine and we can do a obligation free consultation and quote to correct your colour starting for as little as $25.
